1. Measure the diameter of the barrel where the rear sight will be placed and where the front sight will be placed (eg 1.0" rear sight and .750" front).

3. Check the rear sight height adjustment chart. You want it to be about 1/3 higher than the bottom adjustment. uses rear sport #67 adjustment from .300" to .510". The total adjustment is .210". Divide .210" / 3 = .070". Add .070" to the minimum adjustment (which is .300") and get .370". This is 1/3 higher than the bottom adjustment.
5. Subtract the front sideline from the back height (eg .370" + .500" = .870").
6. You need a front ramp and front sight combination that is .495 inches long. Pumps are measured from the base to the bottom of the dovetails.
7. Or you could go with .588" .495" front sight height (the length required from the top of the barrel to the top of the sight) + .093" (the depth of the dovetail).
Glock 7.3mm Steel Rear Sight
Purchased for a Golden Boy H004 after removing the factory sight to install a Weaver style scope mount. Fits perfectly into the Dove Tail slot. It is not a smooth stuffing, but can be thinned and browned if you want a smooth stuffing.
Ordered and received immediately from MGW. Excellent fit and fit before the 64 Winchester rifle. Looks like this gun was made for you.

Peeps installed and factory blade removed. The blank slot fits into the blank dovetail slot with just a few swipes with the file. What I would call proper. It looks really sharp. I removed the rear sight from one of my glocks and need to fill in the empty spot on the slide where it used to be. Is there a file I can buy to put in there?

Back in the late 60's I had a mechanic explain to me why the front wheel wouldn't work.
Someone on a popular gun forum told us that the LaserMax is so poorly designed that he could make his own by installing a wooden dowel. :shocked!
We've all seen front sight only pocket pistols...I've also seen a center groove cut the length of the slide as a target channel.
I don't think cutting the rear sight would work well as I've seen two piece black and white fakes. In fact, the Glock steel backs I have are black with a white insert.

Filling the dovetail would be easy enough, but as the other guy pointed out, it would definitely be easier to grind and sand on the slide.
The idea of making a mold from the rear sight is a point of pride and shows sophistication of thought, but I think any final finish will be similar to what you would encounter when stuffing a "stuffed" pigeon.
Trimming the rear sight from the bottom won't work because you'll be cutting off the area that matters... Also, some sights like the Trijico have a blank base where it goes into the dovetail.
JB Weld can certainly fill in a blank dovetail and that would still be fine, but there is still the finish/color issue;

I guess I'm embarrassed to fill and clean the whole slide, buy a low profile, black metal rear sight and screw it in, that's the way to go...
It's an interesting problem if done right, and certainly not one I've seen here before.
Ronin.45 said: The factory rear sight is good proof. I find it hard to believe it was causing such a big problem. Your pocket is big enough to carry a Glock, but small enough that the extra 1/4″ sight is a problem. It looks like an unprecedented gunfighter mod. FloridaGun said: Not just because I got a laser. Removing the rear sight greatly improves my ability to shoot without keeping it in my pocket. It's a way to line the pocket. It's worth losing sight of. Now I still have a CQB front sight in case the laser fails. Something that I will come back with a genius mind. Mabey XS 24/7. Click to expand... Just curious, how long have you been shooting or carrying?
Have you ever researched different sights before deciding to fire your gun's primary target?
Did you research other clothing or holster options before deciding to remove the most important part of aiming your gun?
If I had to do what you did or wanted to carry a gun, I would choose a different gun.

Read all this and you will surely laugh. But at the same time I find myself looking for an empty dovetail, but with a different logic. I have xs suppressors high night vision for my front sight. And buris rapid fire 3 red dots. The FF3 has a solid white line in the middle of the rear sight that I can line up and have a witness in my front sight.
